the ocean and land contribute to an ecosystem of plants and animals. At high tide, seawater changes estuaries, submerging the plants and flooding creeks, marshes, panes, mudflats or mangroves, making the plants that were on land now covered by the water. Estuaries contain many different species of trees marshes and mangroves. Animals need to be able to cope with diverse changes in temperature and the level at which the tide is at, also the changes between fresh water and sea water. Estuaries also provide flood control. Porous, salt marsh soils and grasses absorb flood waters and help to prevent floods. the following species are just a few of the many species that live at estuaries.
